Add Location Based Hosting Packages

About

In this guide, you will learn how to create a hosting package that allows location-based selection. A customer subscribed to this package will be able to select their desired server location at the point of website creation, ensuring low latency and data residency compliance.

1. Create server groups with each location

  1. Select Servers in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click New group.
  3. When the modal loads, enter the name of your first server group and click Add.
Branding Tip

The server group name will be visible to your customers. Pick a descriptive name and use an emoji for extra visual interest (e.g., 🇬🇧 London, UK).

Repeat these steps for every region you wish to offer (e.g., Singapore, Netherlands, USA).

2. Add server(s) to server group

Once your groups are defined, you must assign your physical or virtual servers to those groups.

  • Select Servers in the left-hand menu.
  • Select Manage on the server you would like to assign.
  • In the top right of the server management page, select Server group.
  • Select the correct server group from the drop-down.

When you return to the Servers list, you will see that the server is now nested within its assigned group.

3. Link server groups to package

The final step links these geographic choices to the customer's subscription package.

  1. Select Settings in the left-hand menu.
  2. Select Packages then Add package.
  3. Scroll to the Server group placement setting.

Configuration Logic: You must select 2 or more server groups and enable 'Allow customer to select server group placement while adding a site'. This triggers the placement choice on the 'Add website' form for the end user.
