Email Settings

The Email role automatically inherits LxRoot's global Email Service settings. While global settings provide a cluster-wide baseline, Smart host settings can be overridden on a per-server basis to accommodate specific routing requirements.

Configure Global Email Service Settings

These settings apply to all Email roles within your cluster unless a local override is present.

  1. Open Settings in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Service settings in the menu.
  3. Navigate to the Email section.

Maximum mailbox messages

Defines the outbound limit applied per hour for an individual mailbox.

Maximum website messages

Defines the outbound limit applied per hour, per website. Note: This setting takes precedence over the individual mailbox limit.

Smart Host Setting

A Smart Host allows you to route all outbound email through a third-party SMTP provider (like SendGrid, Mailgun, or Postmark) using authentication. This is highly recommended for maintaining high deliverability.

Override SMTP settings per server:

  1. Open Servers in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Manage on the specific server.
  3. Navigate to the Roles section and find the Email role.
  4. Click Settings.
Identifying Settings: Within the interface, any inherited global settings are labeled with a Default tag. Once you apply a custom value or edit a default, the tag is removed to indicate a local override is active.
