How to remove a dedicated server role
To downgrade a specific role (such as Database or Email) from Dedicated to Shared, you must perform a two-step "package swap." This process moves the customer's data back to the shared cluster resources without data loss.
The Downgrade Workflow
Note: You cannot simply "uncheck" a dedicated role on an active package. You must temporarily switch the customer to a shared package to reset the role assignments.
Step 1: Revert to Shared
- Open Customers in the left sidebar.
- Select the customer you wish to modify.
- Visit the Packages tab.
- Click the dropdown menu on the dedicated package and select Upgrade/downgrade.
- In the modal, select a Shared Package and click Subscribe.
Step 2: Re-apply Dedicated Status (Selective)
- On the now-shared package, select the dropdown menu again and click Upgrade/downgrade.
- This time, select the Original Dedicated Package and click Next.
- On Step 2 of the wizard, you will see the role selection screen.
- Select only the roles you want to remain dedicated. Leave the role you wish to remove unchecked.
- Click Subscribe to finish the process.
Data Migration
The orchestration layer will automatically handle the migration of data (e.g., moving databases from a dedicated server back to the shared database cluster) during these transitions.
