How to remove a dedicated server role

To downgrade a specific role (such as Database or Email) from Dedicated to Shared, you must perform a two-step "package swap." This process moves the customer's data back to the shared cluster resources without data loss.

The Downgrade Workflow

Note: You cannot simply "uncheck" a dedicated role on an active package. You must temporarily switch the customer to a shared package to reset the role assignments.

Step 1: Revert to Shared

  1. Open Customers in the left sidebar.
  2. Select the customer you wish to modify.
  3. Visit the Packages tab.
  4. Click the dropdown menu on the dedicated package and select Upgrade/downgrade.
  5. In the modal, select a Shared Package and click Subscribe.

Step 2: Re-apply Dedicated Status (Selective)

  1. On the now-shared package, select the dropdown menu again and click Upgrade/downgrade.
  2. This time, select the Original Dedicated Package and click Next.
  3. On Step 2 of the wizard, you will see the role selection screen.
  4. Select only the roles you want to remain dedicated. Leave the role you wish to remove unchecked.
  5. Click Subscribe to finish the process.
Data Migration

The orchestration layer will automatically handle the migration of data (e.g., moving databases from a dedicated server back to the shared database cluster) during these transitions.
