LxRoot Updates
About
We frequently release LxRoot updates to introduce new features, performance enhancements, and security patches. While updates are not forced, we strongly recommend keeping your installation current with the latest Core and Appcd versions.
We recommend running LxRoot updates during off-peak hours or times of lower traffic to minimize the brief disruption to customers as service containers restart.
Core Updates
A Core update is a platform-wide update that includes both API and UI improvements. Once triggered, it applies to the entire orchestration layer.
To run a Core update:
- Open Settings in the left sidebar.
- Click Platform.
- Navigate to Software updates.
- Select Update now.
What to expect: The control panel will refresh after a few seconds. In the background, the orchestration layer will update all servers. As containers restart, there will be a momentary flicker of downtime.
Appcd Updates
Appcd updates focus on provisioning, performance, and security for PHP containers and website hosting. Unlike Core updates, these must be triggered manually on every individual server running an Application role.
To run an Appcd update:
- Open Servers in the left sidebar.
- Click Manage on the server you wish to update.
- Scroll to the Roles section and select the Application tab.
- Click Check for updates on the Appcd row and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Repeat these steps for all other servers in your cluster.
